The Ripple Effect of Wellness (Calm your Mind with Food)

January 25, 2024 • By Movita Life

The 360-Degree Approach to Wellness:

Author, psychiatrist, and nutrition specialist Dr. Uma Naidoo joined our Founder, Tonya Lewis Lee in a captivating IG Live session last month, to speak on the transformative power of food in calming the mind.  Dr. Naidoo discussed the relationships between the body, nutrition, the environment, the people we eat with, and mental health.

Her groundbreaking book "Calm Your Mind with Food: A Revolutionary Guide To Controlling Your Anxiety" looks at the choices we make in our diet and how that plays a vital role in shaping the neurotransmitters that regulate our mood.

“There is a connection with your mind and the rest of your body and therefore the food that you eat, and the stress that you’re undergoing all impact your body, brain, and your gut. Finding these connections becomes important.” - Dr. Uma Naidoo

She recognizes the individualized nature of the gut microbiome and encourages flexibility in dietary choices. She also acknowledges that what is healthy and balanced for one person may differ for another, emphasizing the importance of tailored dietary approaches to individual needs.

“Supplements are hugely important to fill a gap where people need extra help. Especially clean supplements” - Dr. Uma Naidoo

Movita Organics echoes this sentiment, understanding that a healthy gut is foundational to a thriving body and mind and that our clean supplements are the best choice for integrated health. Our range of supplements that use fermented ingredients is not just about nutritional value but also about supporting the trillions of bacteria in your gut—a key element in controlling anxiety.

Fostering Open Conversations

To navigate the ripple effect of wellness, you have to uncover the transformative power that lies within your daily choices. The simple act of prioritizing your mental and physical health through self-care can contribute to breaking down stigmas surrounding well-being. Engaging and participating in open conversations and activities about mental health, self-care, and healthy living creates an environment where individuals feel comfortable addressing their wellness concerns. Contribute to a positive wave that reverberates through our communities.

We go beyond being a product provider by actively participating in and supporting initiatives that promote community wellness and healthy conversations. Our Founder to Founder Instagram Lives have been the most recent of those initiatives, showcasing intimate and helpful conversations with leading women entrepreneurs who are changing the landscape of not only how we think about health and wellness, but how to achieve it.
