Lewis Lee began her personal health journey when, as a 13 year-old she would go to the doctor for weekly weigh-ins to control her weight. Her professional journey into health and wellness began in 2007 when she began serving as the national spokesperson for the “A Healthy Baby Begins with You” campaign initiated by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Office of Minority Health, OMH to raise awareness about the infant mortality crisis in the United States. Through the campaign and OMH Lewis Lee helped to create and launch a peer-to-peer preconception health initiative encouraging college students to focus on their personal health if not for themselves for their future children. They were: Preconception Peer Educators. That program involved thousands of students enrolled in colleges across the country, including The University of Pennsylvania Nursing School, Morgan State, Meharry Medical College and Spellman College. Additionally, she produced Crisis in the Crib: Saving Our Nation’s Babies, a documentary film about the efforts to reduce the US infant mortality rate. Further, eager to create a women’s health platform Lewis Lee, launched HealthyYouNow.com (HYN). As a busy mom, Lewis Lee knows first hand the challenges of navigating work, family and wellness.
Lewis Lee began producing for television more than fifteen years ago and recently wrote and produced the Hallmark adaptation, The Watsons Go To Birmingham. Tonya Lewis Lee is an accomplished author penning three children’s books: Please Baby Please (2002), Please Puppy Please (2004) and Giant Steps to Change the World (2011) all with Simon & Schuster. She is also the co-author of the best selling novel, Gotham Diaries published by Hyperion.
Outspoken on the issues of women and race, Lee has appeared on national and local television and radio across the country. She has also been featured in The New York Times, Avenue, Town and Country, New York Magazine, O, Essence, Ebony, Redbook, Child and New York Family Magazine.
Lewis Lee graduated from Sarah Lawrence College and the University of Virginia School of Law and lives in New York City with her two children and her husband Spike Lee.
Robert is an entrepreneur and founder of Verde Life, Inc. In addition to Verde Life, Inc., Robert is majority owner of several corporations, including American Elite Molding, a company which is the leading manufacturer of zip ties in the U.S.; Buy Cable Ties, a company that sells zip ties and accessories online; Technology Plastics, a custom molding company; and Locker Room Talk, a website that provides resources for high school student-athletes undergoing the collegiate sports recruiting process. In December 2015, Robert and a partner purchased Cable Tie Express, a $7 million company in the cable tie industry.
He is also an early investor in such companies as Wheels Up, Chop’t, Mall We Go, Swoonery and U.S. Functional Foods. He is also a board member, and former President, of Unipharm, Inc., a U.S.-based vitamin and supplement manufacturer that holds the #1 market share in Russia, Poland, and Ukraine. He joined the company in 2008, and under his leadership sales doubled, earnings quadrupled, and gross margins increased by more than 5 percent.
Previously, he served as Vice President of Operations/Finance at Leeds and Northrup, an international manufacturing operation, where he successfully oversaw 150 staff members and coordination of a $50M company restructuring of the manufacturing and financial organizations.
John spent his early career in consumer banking at Chase Bank and Texas Commerce Bank and brokerage (Series 7 & 63 licensed). He has spent the last decade creating and managing young companies. He served as co-founder, Board Member and CEO in the venture-backed, video-based travel platform VoyageTV. VoyageTV which raised its A-Round led by Syncom Venture Partners in 2008, and in 2013 was sold to Next 1 Interactive.
From 1995 to 2004, John had partnered with music impresario Russell Simmons of Def Jam Records to create Oneworld Media, Inc. where he served as President for 8 years. John lives in New York City, and is married with one child. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the State University of New York and attends Columbia University pursuing a degree in Computer Science.
